galerie bruno massa is thrilled to introduce to the worldwide audience some new artworks from SUMIT MEHNDIRATTA & his prominent series PRISMATIC INTERPRETATIONS.

The artist explores still life images, mostly with nature and plantation in his images while keeping in mind how he can invert them with his digital technique that he has experimented with over the years to manipulate hues of images that inspired him to take this journey. His inspiration began through his fascination towards the colours found in plain sunlight. He uses the prism effect of sunlight as an analogy for seeing and interpreting things differently. The world being the plain sunlight and his process as a prism which results in manipulating these images washed in hues and colours of the rainbow. He captures the simplest, sometimes mundane images of landscapes/ and plants during travel or on a daily basis and edit them in patterns that best echo the way he wants to see them or bring it out. He manipulates images to bring out the extraordinary out of the ordinary which feels intuitive and personal to him.

SUMIT MEHNDIRATTA is an Indian artist born in 1986 who lives & works in New Delhi, India. He has pursued Master of Science in International Fashion Marketing from Manchester Metropolitan University in UK. The artist enjoys making artworks from different mediums that please the mind and soul of the individual. Sumit works aren't restricted to one style or medium of work. His works range from generic mediums such as canvas and paper to experimental mediums like digital art, mixed media and wall sculptures. Sumit claims to have been experimental since childhood. Be it drawing, sketching, painting or photography, he always liked to do something no one has ever thought of, by adding his signature element to the task. To achieve this, Sumit creates his own painting tools to go with the techniques he thinks of. He also believes in impulsive acts of making art and its surprising results.
