Connections: Wingate Studio at David Krut Projects

David Krut Projects, New York

March 26 - April 27, 2024

Opening Reception: Thursday, March 28 from 6 - 9 PM

David Krut Projects, New York proudly presents a dynamic joint exhibition featuring works from Wingate Studio (New Hampshire) and David Krut Workshop (Johannesburg), along with a selection from each of our collections. The exhibition showcases a diverse range of artists including Tunji Adeniyi-Jones, Elizabeth Atterbury, Hayley Barker, Jonathan Beaumont Thomas, Deborah Bell, Sinder Block, Meghan Brady, Sascha Braunig, Walton Ford, Sara Greenberger Rafferty, Josephine Halvorson, Xylor Jane, William Kentridge, Robert Kushner, Kiki Smith, Diane Victor, and Paula Wilson.

Renowned for multi-plate color prints, Wingate Studio, founded by Peter Pettengill in 1985, has been a creative hub for artists like Louise Bourgeois and Walton Ford. Meanwhile, David Krut Workshop in Johannesburg specializes in more traditional black and white printing, having been the primary workshop of William Kentridge whose editions have been realized there for more than twenty years. From the vibrant compositions of Ford to the unique works of Kentridge, this collaboration brings together the diverse styles and techniques of both studios, offering a captivating journey through the world of printmaking.

During the opening reception, attendees will have the chance to experience a multi-color, multi-plate printing demonstration led by visiting Wingate Studio Master Printer, Leo Zhao, that will provide insight into the artistic process of working in an intaglio print shop.

Join us as we celebrate the convergence of artistic styles and techniques from two respected workshops. For more information, please email [email protected]

Dedicated to showcasing contemporary art and fostering artistic dialogue, David Krut Projects believes in making art accessible to all. Over the past 23 years, our project space in Chelsea has introduced works by numerous distinguished artists from Europe and Africa. Learn more by visiting www.davidkrutprojects.com
