galerie bruno massa is thrilled to introduce to international audience VISUAL SYMPHONY: MEDITATION by SOONNAM KIM & curated by ARIN FRUT.

SOONNAM KIM is a Korean artist born in 1969 who lives and works in Seoul, South Korea. She is presenting to us h er series of artworks with through line dedicated to meditation. Studied in Korea and USA, then taught in Kean University, she moved to Germany and then came back to South Korea, where she is based now and working as a full-time artist in Seoul. Kim had 16 solo exhibitions all over the world and her work was reviewed by NY Times.

KIM’s art has evolved from semi-geometric lyrical abstract to more curvilinear abstract composition over the last 30 years. Her current series is inspired by classical music and Buddhist philosophy. She uses oil paint and a palette knife to create harmonious arrangements of lines, colors and dots on canvas. Painting is a way of meditating and liberating herself from the attachment of mind. She wants to share this peaceful energy with the viewers and invite them to connect with their own emotions and memories.
