Pop Art

Pop Art arose in the mid-1950s as a challenge to the rigid perceptions of Fine Art, embracing appropriation, mass production, and kitsch. Rather than explicitly glorifying or condemning mass media, Pop artists emphasize the ubiquity and immediacy of commercial iconography in works that often incorporate irony, bold colors, and flat imagery.
