The exhibition brings together a diverse range of talented artists, both emerging and established, who each offer their unique interpretation of a summer's day through various artistic approaches and techniques.
'Summer Daze' introduces many artists to the Maddox Gallery audience for the first time, including Julio Sarramián, Miriam Dema, Brent Estabrook, Moritz Moll, Kean, Michael Slusakowicz, Jessica Brilli, Slim Aarons and Kate Brinkworth. This exciting showcase provides an opportunity for art enthusiasts to discover new talent along with the rare ability to see an artist at work: LA-based artist Brent Estabrook will be creating his distinctive art live at Maddox Shepherd Market until the end of August, showcasing his signature abstract textures and evocative compositions.
The exhibition takes viewers on a mesmerising journey from daybreak to nightfall of a summer's day, capturing the changing colours, energy, and mood of each phase. The morning brings a sense of anticipation, with a quiet and soft world awakening. As the day progresses, the sun reaches its zenith, filling the atmosphere with activity and vibrant energy. Finally, twilight sets in, blurring the boundaries between reality and the surreal, creating a magical ambience.
'Summer Daze' not only explores the beauty and resilience of the day's transitions but also delves into the artists' relationship with their practice as they chase the sun daily. The exhibition investigates how the changing seasons influence our psychological state. The longer summer days captures a suspended tension, a constant effort to remain present and grateful for each hazy moment before autumn sets in.
