SAN FRANCISCO, CA: Crown Point Press announces six new small prints by Ed Ruscha and a special presentation of prints by Robert Bechtle in Winter Group Exhibition. The exhibition also includes prints by Tomma Abts, Chris Burden, Julie Mehretu, Odili Donald Odita, Laurie Reid, Pat Steir, Wayne Thiebaud, Richard Tuttle, and Fred Wilson.

Ed Ruscha made the new exhibited prints in the fall of 2023. Each image is of two words that make up the print’s title. The prints are small but the impact is powerful. As a group they suggest a narrative that sparks an idea or a personal reference. Ruscha places language at the center of his practice, and he has made numerous prints, drawings and paintings that feature bold letters on abstract, atmospheric backgrounds.

In conjuction with Robert Bechtle: Prints and Drawings at the de Young Museum Crown Point presents a selection of working proofs from Bechtle’s 2002 print, 20th Street Capri. Bechtle frequently made prints at Crown Point Press starting in 1967. He made his last etching, Three Houses on Pennsylvania Avenue, in 2011. In 2013 he created a series of 10 monotypes.

Crown Point welcomes visitors to the gallery Monday – Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM. Winter Group Exhibition is on view November 22 – January 5, 2024. Gallery hours are Monday – Friday, 9-5.
