Transformative Effects

WYNWOOD - 2441 NW 2ND AVE Miami, FL 33127, USA Thursday, June 28, 2018–Tuesday, August 28, 2018 Opening Reception: Thursday, June 28, 2018, 7 p.m.–10 p.m.

Ascaso Gallery presents its third summer group exhibition of a selection of seminal works that celebrate a wide variety of artistic production. Highlighting the show are key examples of Kinetic and Optic Art by the foremost masters, including Jesús Rafael Soto, Carlos Cruz-Diez, and Victor Vasarely, with dizzying works that constantly confound the viewer. The second part of the exhibition focuses on artists who play with media ranging from the bold figuration paintings by Julio Larraz to the total abstractions of Jim Dine and Oswaldo Vigas, to the extraordinary large-scale collage by Arman that emphasizes surface effects with the application of actual paint brushes. A playful Jeff Koons’ polyurethane balloon figure contrasts with the stunning alabaster Infanta by Manolo Valdes, both modern commentaries on appropriation through material exploration. Each work in the gallery will surprise the viewer with the creativity that has produced such diverse and transformative visual effects.
