Smooth surfaced, black granite has been engineered into an elegant, modern depiction of a reclining figure in this sculpture by Jeremy Guy. The play of space and shape changes as the viewer and light move around this classic figurative subject. The natural environment and especially time spent on, or near, water have had a significant influence on Guy's work. This work is numbered in a series of 50 and requires about 12 weeks to create. Additional unique pieces in this series are available on a commission basis.

He grew up in England where natural inspiration has come from the work of British modern sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. Since completing a BA in Product Design (2001) from Leeds Metropolitan University, Guy has been in full time practice as a sculptor. He emigrated to Canada in 2007. Guy's stone sculptures can be found in private collections and public spaces worldwide including Queen Ethelburga's College Sculpture Park, North Yorkshire, UK, Orchard Residences in Singapore, and the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Baltimore.
